Our Instructors
With a combined 29 years of competitive swimming experience, Natalie and Michael began coaching club swimming in 2011 and have coached ever since. They are both Lifeguard and First Aid certified, as well as coach members of USA Swimming. Over the course of their swimming and coaching careers they have developed a lifelong love and appreciation of the sport and the joy of aquatics that they hope to pass on to anyone that comes to the pool.
Michael Woodward
Michael started swimming competitively at the age of 8 for the Willamalane Swim Club in Springfield, OR and finished his career swimming collegiately for Whitworth University, where he was an NCAA All-American. Michael has coached for the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team, the Chehalem Swim Team, and most recently for the Lake Oswego Swim Club, acting as Head Age Group Coach. During his career, Michael has coached multiple regional, sectional, and national level athletes, with one winning a Junior National title as well as a spot on the USA National Junior Team. Michael won Oregon Age Group Swim Coach of the year in 2020 and 2023.
Natalie Turner
Natalie started swimming at the age of 7 for the Tahoe Swim Club in South Lake Tahoe, CA and went on to compete for Whitworth University. While at Whitworth, in addition to breaking multiple school and conference records, she become the most decorated female athlete in Northwest Conference history by becoming a 14x NCAA All-American. As a coach, Natalie is currently the Director of Swimming at George Fox University where she leads the Men’s and Women’s Swimming programs. As the founding coach of the program, Natalie has lead the Bruins to making an impact at a conference and national level, producing multiple All-Conference team members, conference champions, and an individual NCAA All-American. Prior to coming to Fox, Natalie was the Head Coach of the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team, where she coached multiple regional, sectional, and national level athletes and led the Waves to winning their first back to back LSC team championships.
